The Uberti 1873 Cattleman Carbine 18" is a modern reproduction of a rare, Colt special-order item, specifically designed to offer the accuracy of a rifle within the mechanical framework of a single-action revolver.
The original Colt revolving carbines were introduced in 1876, with a very limited production run (in terms of "tens" of pieces) much probably intended just as salesman samples to demonstrate the strength and versatility of the SAA design.
Mechanically, this is a classic Single Action 1873 revolver featuring a striking 18-inch barrel and an integrated walnut shoulder stock, and typically chambered in .45 Colt or .357 Magnum. Despite its rugged appearance, this specific configuration saw no official military service, as the revolving carbine concept was largely abandoned by armies after the American Civil War.
